Blanche Tilden has received the Lynne Kosky Award for Contemporary Jewellery as part of the 2021 Victorian Craft Awards, for her work “Through the Lens 04”

“In Through the Lens 04 necklace, I reflect on the material culture of this time by examining glass, a fundamental material essential to everyday life. This necklace acts as a lens through which I consider, define and articulate aesthetic, cultural and sentimental value. I am always interested in how the value of objects can shift, and how objects gather more and more meaning over time. Overlooked, forgotten, salvaged, and given a second life as a raw material for jewellery, my transformation of obsolete glass lenses creates new value by expanding the meaning of what is already here, hiding in plain sight.” — Blanche Tilden
